At the heart of this fixture are the handcrafted ceramic shades, each featuring a fluted texture and vibrant dreamy colors that shift and shimmer as the light changes—creating an almost glowing, iridescent rainbow effect. The small shaped (approximately 4.75 inches tall and 3.86 inches wide) ceramic shade is meticulously handcrafted, ensuring a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects the artisanal care behind its creation. Every shade is slip-cast, hand-finished and meticulously glazed to achieve its captivating appearance. 

Designed as a plug-in sconce, the Smoothie Bend Solo is perfect for renters or anyone seeking a flexible and versatile lighting option without a hardwired installation and tailored to perfectly suit your space. Each Smoothie Pendant is handmade to order in collaboration with Modern Science Project. Please allow 2-3 weeks for production, separate from shipping time. If additional production time is required, we’ll notify you promptly.

About the Artist

Amanda K. Woodcock is the founder of Modern Science Project, where she blends her expertise as a potter, glass artist, product designer, and mechanical engineer to create funky yet functional iridescent pottery and glassware. Using computer-aided design (not AI!) and 3D printing, she meticulously crafts the forms that shape the molds for each piece. From there, every item is hand-cast, sponged, seamed, glazed, and fired twice, ensuring a truly one-of-a-kind creation. With a passion for innovation and artistry, Amanda’s work brings a playful yet refined touch to everyday objects.
