Light Fixture Hanging Guide - Bedroom
Light fixtures are an essential component of any bedroom. Not only do they provide ample illumination, but they can also enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the space. When it comes to choosing the right type of light fixture for your bedroom, there are several options to consider, including pendants, sconces, and chandeliers. However, figuring out where to hang these fixtures can be a bit tricky. In this blog post, we will guide you on where to hang these light fixtures in your bedroom.
Like any interior design tips, these are just suggestions and common installation practices, always use your intuition and best judgement when designing your space.
Pendants
Pendant lights are perfect for replacing bedside table lamps or as statement pieces above the bed. When replacing bedside lamps with pendants, about 42” from the floor is the sweet spot, although you may have to adjust depending on the height of your bed.
If you're hanging pendants over a bed or somewhere else in the room, you want to make sure that the fixture is high enough so that it doesn't interfere with movement around the room but also low enough to provide ample illumination. About 7' and above is usually best.
Sconces
Sconces are another great choice for streamlining your bedroom decor by replacing bedside lamps. In terms of height, you want the bulb to be one or two inches above eye level when you sit up in bed or at least 24” above your bedside table. Also, keeping a distance of 3-6 inches to the left or right of the headboard is a good rule of thumb.
Chandeliers
Chandeliers are perfect for hanging above the bed or in the center of the room. They create a stunning visual impact and provide ample lighting. To make sure they don't obstruct the room, chandeliers should hang no lower than 7’ from the floor.
