Do you love home improvement as much as we do? Well, hold on to your hammers because some of the Color Cord Company favorites were just featured on HGTV’s 100-day Hotel Challenge! We’re excited to share how Color Cord Company was able to make these designers’ hotel lighting dreams come to life.

If you’ve never heard of this show, the hosts, Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt, compete to renovate two hotels under budget in just 100 days. In one of their episodes featuring the Beacon Hotel and the William and Garland Hotel, the couple decided that Color Cord fixtures would elevate the existing spaces.

Check out how we fit into their hotel lighting vision and maybe how we can spruce up your hotel lighting fixtures, too!

Color Cord Company in the Bathroom

First up was the bathroom remodel of the hotels. We’re so excited that our hotel lighting was up to the task of transforming these spaces! In the Beacon Hotel, we were part of three different bathroom redesigns that explored color and shape with elegance and sophistication.

So, who were the stars of the show? In one of the bathrooms, the Junction Double Wall Sconce in Linen from the Boutique Lighting Collection with milk bulbs was the perfect fit. In the other two bathrooms, the Button Wall Sconce in Brass with an LED milk bulb completed the look.

We think that Brian chose these fixtures because they complemented the fun pops of color in the redone tile work — but also because these compact wall sconces are ideal for more intimate spaces.

If you’re ever limited by the size of a room, both our Junction and Button sconces can deliver powerful illumination for hotel lighting without taking up too much space. You can leave your hotel lighting fixtures bare or create a warmer design by diffusing the light with the help of a milky glass shade.

Color Cord Company in the Closet

Bathrooms weren’t the only place where we brought the light! Our fixtures were also featured in the closet — a space where lighting isn’t usually prioritized. Brian took one look and decided that a light fixture had to be an essential part of the aesthetic here.

His HGTV lighting choice from Color Cord Company was the accessory on top of the light fixture: one of our natural and woven drum shades. The shape of the shade adds curvaceous appeal to a very linear space, while the neutral hue of the string shade worked well with the light wood of the frame and the white of the wine fridge.

Brian also chose to use a flush mount ceiling light that kept the hotel lighting expansive enough to fill the space without obstructing any of the high shelves in the storage area. If you have even higher ceilings than the Beacon Hotel, you may want to consider custom-length pendant lighting to illuminate specific areas in the closet at just the right height.

Color Cord Company in the Kitchen

Not every hotel room has a kitchenette, but the Beacon Hotel has enough space for guests to cook their own meals. Because this is another intimate space, it’s no surprise that Brian also chose a miniature sconce for this hotel lighting feature. And the placement he chose here? Absolutely divine!

Placing a Puck Sconce from the Boutique Collection over the sink illuminates one of the most important spaces while providing seamless design throughout the entire property, matching the bathroom to the bedroom to the kitchen. While our Puck Sconces are typically designed as ceiling lights, you can also attach them to the wall with ease.

At Color Cord Company, we feature the Puck Sconce in both single and multi-color options. Whether it’s Latte & Linen, Rust & Palisade, or just plain Pine, you can find a finish that’s a perfect match for your hotel decor with our hotel lighting Pantone color matching guide!

Color Cord Company in the Bedroom

The final place where HGTV lighting featured our fixture design was in the bedroom! Again, Brian chose a Puck-shaped shade to tie together every part of the room. Instead of a wall sconce here, though, he chose to highlight the Puck selection in a pendant light!

Another neutral choice in Rust and Linen, this pendant light cord was custom-measured to ensure it hung at the exact right height for reading in bed. It’s a look that balances subtlety with a hint of bold flair and complements the chic aesthetic in the room. The Linen hue of the shade echoed the same color in the wallpaper, while the Rust lamp cord and socket cover matched perfectly with the deeper burgundy color of the headboard.

Since Color Cord Company offers a ton of customization options for all types of hotel lighting, you can recreate a similar style for your space with colors that match your hotel aesthetic. Browse the Boutique colorways, or explore hotel lighting fixtures in classic hardware finish options with metallic hues like Polished Copper and Solid Raw Brass.
