12 Projects of Christmas - Project #1 Pendant Brackets

Nothing rings in the holidays like a bit of DIY-ing! In our 1st Project of Christmas we build two wooden brackets to mount our Plug In Pendant Light Cord Sets.  Both brackets are very similar, but we chose to route out the back of one to run the cord behind the bracket base for a cleaner look.  Which style do you prefer?

Lighting Components you'll Need:
- Plug-in Pendant Light (If you want to use a shade for your light, you'll need a Standard Cord Set with a shade ready socket)
Light Bulb
- Light Shade or Bulb Cage

Step 1: Measuring and Cutting

Measure and cut the desired size your bracket(s).  We decided that a 12" bracket is a perfect size for mounting over a bedside table.

Step 2: Gluing and Securing

Once you've cut your three pieces, glue them together and let them sit, preferably in some sort of vice keeping the bracket stable while drying.  Then secure it with a couple of wood nails at the base of the right angle.

Step 3: Sanding

Once the glue has dried, sand down the bracket pendant in preparation for painting and waxing.
Step 4: Painting and Wax Finish

Since we built two slightly different Pendant Brackets, we decided to finish one with Black Matte Spray Paint and the other with a Natural Paste Wax Finish.

Step 5: Assembly with Plug In Pendants and Accessories
